Creating an organic bedroom makeover that brings our best room
to blossom
There you are again, lying in bed, eyes wide open,
thinking
about what you did today and what you have to
do tomorrow. You’ve tried counting sheep and deep
breathing and even a little warm milk, all to no avail. No
matter what you do, you just can’t fall asleep. If
only your brain had an “off” button.
For many of us, the bedroom is no longer a place of rest. Sure,
we eventually get to sleep, but it often seems like one more
daily battle to fight. If this sounds all too familiar, it’s
time to make a change and reclaim your bedroom as a place of
refuge and relaxation.
The most dramatic change you can make is in your perception of
the bedroom. Do you actually see it as a place to go and relax,
or is it just the place you end up when you run out of hours in
a day? If it’s the latter, then you need to change your
bedroom’s image with a makeover. Best of all, you can
completely overhaul your bedroom without having to replace the
expensive parts, such as your bed or dressers.
From the Top Down
Since you spend the majority of your time in bed looking up, it
only makes sense to have a ceiling that’s pleasing to the eye.
Of course, having a nice texture is the most obvious way to add
aesthetics to your ceilings. An even better method, however, is
by draping curtains from your ceiling. By simply tacking a lacy
curtain to your ceiling with a few thumb tacks, you can create
an elegant but simple canopy. Best of all, you’ll only be out a
few dollars for the curtains.
Flower Power
Flowers are another very simple way to add to the environment
of your bedroom. Real flowers take quite a bit of care, but
their silk counterparts bring all the beauty with out the fuss.
(Faux flowers invoke a smile that is completely genuine!) When
making your selections, don’t fret over picking something that
goes with this or that décor. Just be sure to pick some thing
that lifts your mood and relaxes you. The trick is to have
flowers in enough spots so that you’re sure catch a glimpse of
them every day.
Now that you’ve taken care of everything around you, it’s time
to take care of the bed that you are actually sleeping on.
Consider upgrading to satin sheets. After just one night of
sleeping on these silky threads, you’ll wonder why you hadn’t
made the switch years ago.
Not Just for Adults
Now that your bedroom is transformed, if you have children,
don’t forget about their rooms. Remember, a happy child equals
happy parents. When it comes to overhauling a child’s room, the
same general principles apply: be creative and keep it
simple.
Just like
your own bedroom, you can quickly, easily, and inexpensively
change the look of your children’s rooms. Again, the one area
where you may want to splurge is in your children’s bed linens.
With children being prone to both respiratory ailments and skin
irritations, organic bedding is the way to go. This type of
linen is chemical-free, so your children’s skin and lungs won’t
be subject to harmful particulates. Organic baby bedding is even more
important, since babies have not fully developed their
immune systems. Line their baby cribs with natural, toxin-free
cotton sheets, and you’ll both be sure to sleep better
tonight.
Small Changes, Big Rewards
So, there you have it. Just a few simple changes can make such
a big difference. Within a day or two all the bedrooms in your
home can exude elegance and set a restful, relaxing tone. Soon
every member of your family will be sleeping like a
baby.
